So, today is the day we all look back on 2010 and see what mistakes we've made and what we've accomplished...
I look back on this year like I look back on every year when it comes to a close; with mixed emotions of happiness and depression. I always get emotional on events like these because I think about the past and the things I've done. Mostly it's about the games I've played as a child; titles like Majora's Mask and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door stand out amongst the rest, because they were more than just pass times, they were amazing worlds that I could get immersed in, believable or not, and think of myself as involved with the events that were to unfold in the coming hours.
So here I am, sounding like a nerd, again, reflecting on my life, again, feeling sad, again. I'm glad at the same time I've been able to really experience all these times; it makes me happy that so many of my memories are dedicated to the imaginary worlds I went to. I doubt everyone could truly know what I'm talking about, and I condemn those people for assuming things like videogames are a waste of time when they are truly so much more.
To the people who DO get what I'm rambling about though, I extend my most sincere gratitude to you for being able to view these things the way I do. I hope that people will continue to enjoy videogames and life no matter how old they are; be it sharing secrets in A Link to the Past or giving tips in Pokemon (or maybe even something as simple as re-experiencing Ocarina of Time for the 10th time over, 'cause I do that all the time), I wish you all the very best for the new year, and I can only wonder where my favourite game series will go in the future.
Anyone reading this has my thanks; it's subjects like this that I like to share with people, because nothing makes me happier than getting lost in a conversation with someone about a particular favourite game that is viewed as more than just that; a game. Merry (late) Christmas, and Happy New Year, everyone. Thank you.
